In this article, I show you how I modified the GT King Pro to add an external antenna boosting the Bluetooth and WiFi range. This is a more advanced mod as you will need to drill a hole in the aluminum case in order to affix the antenna. I ordered my antenna on Amazon from the US and subsequently ordered two more from China.

The connectors are tricky to install - they are smaller (the ones from China - the Amazon one was larger and easier to install) than the original connector so you have to play with them to get them to connect properly. But with a little care you should be able to get them connected. In my case I only replaced one antennae (the Bluetooth - BT) to improve the BT keyboard and headphone connectivity. Once connected, I experienced a significant improvement on connectivity for Bluetooth devices.

Here is a video of the modification to the Beelink GT King Pro:

Performance after the modification was immediately noticeable.

2024 - May Update

I purchased a used GT-King Pro from Quebec and opened it to do the same mod. I was surprised to see that the internal board and heat sinks are all different. I did the same mod and performance improved.

New Board Design:

Here is the new version of the main board. The CPU/GPU are cooled using thermal paste contacting the newly designed heatsink.

New Heatsink:

The new heatsink design has the heatsink integrated into the cover and using a copper transfer pad. No more cooling fins.

Lessons Learned

Be careful when drilling the 1/4” hole in the case as I scratched a chip on the main board. I was lucky that I didn’t “brick” the device. In fact, I strongly suggest that you remove the main board before making the hole. I ended up taking out the board only after drilling the hole - something that in hindsight I wished that I had done before attempting to drill the hole.
