In this article I show you how to fix a Logitech remote that is no longer charging properly.

I use many of these Harmony remotes (currently the 1100 version) and they are excellent devices, however there is one issue with them that they tend to burn out their charging contacts after they are left in their cradle for an extended length of time. It appears that the charging contacts are a thin layer of conductive material (possible gold leaf) that wear out after a period of time.

Here is a video showing how I attempted to prove this theory and complete a "solder mod" on a Logitech 880 remote:

Turns out that my theory is correct - to resolve this issue - you can carefully add conductive material (e.g. solder) to the contact pads and your remote will charge again. Once I placed my remote back in the cradle it charged with no issues.
