In this article I discuss "unboxing" a new toaster - the WHALL® Touch Screen Toaster 2 Slice | Stainless Steel, Digital Timer, Sound | 6 Bread Types & Shades ($293.25 list price)

In my case I was watching Black Friday and Boxing Day sales and pulled the trigger on a new toaster.

Is a $293.25 Toaster Worth It!!

So the obvious question is whether it is worth spending over $250 for a 2-piece toaster and why. The reason for purchasing this toaster is that it has many of the features that we were looking for - namely the ability to defrost frozen bread reliably as well as easily change the type of product (bread, bagel, English muffins, etc.) and the 'browning levels' in toasting in a consistent manner.

I wasn't prepared to fork out the list price for the unit but did find a great boxing dale sale on the 2 slice version making it worth trying.

Review

I ordered the toaster at a significantly reduced price (< $100) and it was delivered by FedEx ground from Calgary Alberta. The delivery stalled due to the Jan 1st holiday but made it the day after. I unpacked the device and it arrived as advertised.

Summary of Operation and Rating 👍

Having had the opportunity to use the device for a period of time, I can safely state that there is a significant improvement in functionality using this device over a standard toaster. The ability to have the unit automatically and quicky adjust toasting times consistent with the bread type (bread, English Muffin, Bagel, pastry, etc.) and desired 'browning levels' has made a significant improvement over using a standard toaster. The device is definitely worth making an additional investment but I am not sure that it is worth the $293.25 price tag at the Wahl website. In my case I can definitively give this an overall rating of 11 out of 10 at the boxing day sale price - well worth the investment at twice the price that I paid. The only challenge is what I will do if it ever breaks as I don't think that I will ever go back to a standard toaster!

I highly recommend keeping your eye out and pick up one of these toasters when they go on sale! You will not be disappointed.
