This article describes how to "sideload" the free version (Joomla Extension) OSMap. OSMap is authered by JoomlaShack and is created based on the GNU General Public License v3.

It is a highly rated "free" Joomla extension that creates xml and html sitemaps for websites that can be shared with search engines like google's "search.google.com".

Issue

In order to download a copy of the "free" version of the extension, the Joomlashack webiste requires an account. Since I do not have an account registered, I would like to download the "free" version of the extension directly from the source.

Solution

My solution was to grab the free version of the extension directly from GitHub.

Joomlashack on Github

The source code and releases for OSMap are maintained on GitHub at https://github.com/joomlashack/OSMap and therefore you can grab a copy of the free extension here to load into your Joomla installation.

In GitHub, Joomlashack creates "Releases" for its free version:

Follow this link and grab the latest release of the free extension to to load into Joomla in the System - Extensions section. In Joomla:

Google Search Console

Once loaded, you have a copy of the "free" version of Joomlashack's OSMap Joomla extension installed and OSMap will automatically create a Google-friendly sitemap for all your content.. You can now share a version of your sitemap (xml or html) with search engines like https://search.google.com to assist in their indexing, etc.
