In this article I explain how to get some older games to run in compatibility mode under Windows 10 (or Windows 11). Games like "Lego - Pirates of the Caribbean" need to run in compatibility mode to avoid crashing. As well, I show you how to match the resolution of the game to that of your display.
Video Gaming Tip - Running in Compatibility Mode:
- You need to find the executable for the game - For example, in Steam locate the executable by right clicking and "Browse local files". For a desktop shortcut - check the properties of where the executable file is located.
- Once you find the executable file (i.e. .exe). Right click it and run the "Troubleshoot compatibility" option and then save the recommended settings.
Video Gaming Tip - Matching Resolutions:
Make sure to match the video resolution of your monitor with the game you are playing (especially in full screen mode).
- Right-click your desktop and go to Display settings and check the resolution (e.g. 1920 x 1080)
- Now in your game - go to settings and look for Video settings and match to resolution to your desktop settings (e.g. 1920 x 1080)
