Directions to Delta Hotel

Day 1

Travel day and first game at 2:30 at Western Fair
The hotel was able to let us have our rooms early so that was handy. This year they collapsed the divisions putting us into the second division as nobody wants to move up to the now A/B division. So competition is gonna be stiff.

Game 1
We started out against the 3rd Year Flaggers and we lost a close one 5-4 gaining only 1 point. Turns out that the competition is as expected and our first game was a tough opener. We were the better team but due to some really unlucky bounces we ended up loosing in a close one. A tough way to start the tourney. Also, Paul C had a run in near the end of the game that gives us with an alarming number of penalty minutes (a tie breaker rule).

For the guys at the Delta - we headed over to Crabby Joe’s for dinner then watching the IHHF Women’s games (Canada and US games) as well as the Women’s NCAA final four action.

Day 2

Day 2 had two games scheduled with some stiffer competition. Turns out that the tourney organizers thought it wise to put the top 3 teams against each other?? In the end it turns out that there is a tough side to the division and a significantly weaker side. Not good planning to say the least.

Game 2

Game 2 was against the Rattlers with a 5-2 loss and no points.

We ended up losing of 2nd game, effectively putting us out of the running for making it to Sunday unless we received all the points our 3rd game. Based on discussions with the other teams, they said that we were definitely the team to beat.

Game 3

Game 3 is against Big Bridge Energy with a 4-3 loss. These 3 goals were their only goals against in the tournament with one against in the final. Big Bridge Energy went on to win easily in the final against Metro TLC. Big Bridge Energy agreed that we were the toughest team to play and felt that we were the better team....

A Night Out on the Town

The team went out for dinner at Milestones followed by heading downtown to Joe Kools. However, the lineup was 1 1/2 hours long... So Mike talked his way in to the bar to scout out the action. In the end the team ended up at the bar next door for some drinks... Michael Cordi got picked off by one of the local ladies :-)

Day 3

With a dismal 0-3 record with 9 goals for and 14 against we ended with our worst record in our (my) 30+ year history at the tournament... Oh well, maybe next year.

Early trip home boys!!!

Special Thank You to Dave for organizing another great tournament!!
