We will be staying at the beautiful Petawawa Quality Inn again -- Home of the Bandits! Checking in on March 17th, Checking out on March 19th

Here are some highlights from the tournament.

Day 1

Already some excitement as Dave Harris, our goalie, tweaked his knee the previous nights game and when he got up in the morning he realized that it was a bad strain and that he likely could not play...

I was on my way to pick up Dave when I got the call that he was not going to be able to join us for the weekend and Don is frantically trying to muster up a replacement.

Game 1

Our new netminder Brian stood on his head leading to a shootout victory in game 1!! The Bandits totally outplayed their opposition but was up against a hot goaltender that made the game much closer than it needed to be.

The team stayed for a few pints after the game but bowed out before the dance in order to catch the end of the Leafs game and have pizza and drinks at the hotel.

The party went into to wee hours of the morning - only getting a few warnings from hotel management....

Day 2

Day 2 started off with an early breakfast and then straight to the arena for Game 2.

Game 2

Roger was on fire!! Yes - I said "Roger McIntosh"!! He set up his linemate for an empty netter to get the first goal on the first shift.. Not to be out done he later he did a fancy  "Savardian Spin-o-rama" taking the puck on the boards and setting up his linemate for yet another goal

Captain/Coach and self proclaimed Commissioner - Don Trylinski gets honorable mention for feeling sorry for the other team and sending out Dominic Salerno in a critical penalty killing role late in the game with the game still tied 3-3. Amazingly the gamble paid off and Perry potted the go-ahead shorthanded goal.

The game closed out with the Bandits securing a 5-3 victory.

Game 3

Game 3 turned out to be a spirited affair with Roger getting the GWG (Game Winning Goal) but his 2 point performance was not enough to secure the MVP t-shirt that went to Chad Sutherland who sniped a hat trick to secure the 4-3 victory.

The bad news is that this means we finished first and have to stick around for the final at noon Sunday - late travels for the Toronto bound boys!!

Dinner

The team dinner was held at the local Kelsey's - Petawawa's finest eatery! Our poor waitress got somewhat flustered once she had to deal with the Commissioner and as a result a few of our food and drink orders got mixed up. Regardless, a great time was had eating, drinking and watching the Leaf game!

Day 3

Day 3 started off with an late breakfast and then straight to the arena for finals at Noon.

Game 4 - The Finals

Pre-Game

To get the guys ready for the big game, Perry pulled out his harmonica and did a little pre-game performance to get the guys all ready!

Game 4 turned out to be yet another spirited affair. The team we played turned out to be the first team that we faced, however they beefed up their squad by adding another "younger" line.

Roger came to play!! Yet another stellar game and Brian stood on his head again leading to a well deserved shutout. The Bandits won 3-0 !!
